Guggenheim museum
A design for the new Guggenheim Museum in Helsinki. The form grew out of wood — the material of traditional Finnish architecture — and the unique patterns of its grain. Set where the four elements meet, the building works as a self-sufficient machine: light-transmitting resin panels scatter daylight into the galleries, ventilation runs hidden between the structural membranes, and heat- and wind-sensitive elements in the outer skin harvest renewable energy. The final form recalls the softness and quiet magic of the Finnish landscape.
